Inclusive Access
What is Inclusive Access?

Inclusive Access, also known as Course Access, is a program that provides students with digital course materials through Blackboard by the first day of class at a discounted rate.

Course Access helps students start prepared on day one with immediate access to required materials while reducing the overall cost of course materials compared to many traditional print textbooks.

How Does Inclusive Access Work?
  1. Your instructor selects digital course materials for the class.
  2. Students enrolled in participating courses automatically receive access to materials through Blackboard.
  3. Digital materials are available by the first day of class.
  4. Students can review program details and opt-out information if they choose to purchase materials separately.

Inclusive Access supports late registration and schedule changes, helping students maintain access to required materials throughout the add/drop period.

How Do I Access My Materials?

To access Inclusive Access materials:

  • Log in to Blackboard using your USC credentials
  • Open your course
  • Click the Course Access/Inclusive Access materials link provided in the course

Your materials should be available on or before the first day of class.

If your course participates in Inclusive Access, instructors may also provide information in the course syllabus or announcements.

What Types of Materials Are Included?

Inclusive Access materials may include:

  • E-books
  • Homework platforms
  • Online courseware
  • Publisher access codes
  • Interactive digital learning tools
  • Quizzes and assignments integrated into Blackboard

Available materials vary by course and instructor.

What Are the Benefits of Inclusive Access?

Inclusive Access helps students by providing:

  • Day one access to required materials
  • Reduced textbook costs
  • Convenient digital access through Blackboard
  • No need to shop around for access codes
  • Access from multiple devices
  • Interactive learning tools and digital resources
  • Search, highlighting, note-taking, and bookmarking features
  • Real-time content updates from publishers

Digital materials can also help improve organization by allowing students to keep course materials together in one location.

How Much Does Inclusive Access Cost?

Inclusive Access pricing varies by course and depends on the digital materials required by the instructor. Costs may differ between classes based on publisher pricing and course content.

Students enrolled in participating courses receive access to the required digital materials at the negotiated Course Access rate for that class.

Can I Opt Out?

Yes. Students may have the option to opt out of Inclusive Access for participating courses.

If you choose to opt out:

  • You will lose access to the digital course materials
  • You will be responsible for obtaining the required materials on your own
  • You may lose discounted pricing available through the program
  • Certain online assignments or courseware may require separate purchases

Opt-out deadlines and instructions are provided within your course materials.

What If I Add or Drop a Class?

Inclusive Access supports schedule changes and late registration. Access to materials may update automatically based on enrollment status.

Students who drop a course should review bookstore and course deadlines regarding access and billing.

What if I cannot Access My Materials?

First, make sure you are:

  • Officially enrolled in the course
  • Logged into the correct Blackboard account
  • Accessing materials through the course link
  • Using the correct USC credentials

If you still experience issues, please contact the bookstore for assistance.

Are Inclusive Access Materials Refundable?

Students who choose to opt out before the stated deadline will not receive the Inclusive Access materials charge for that course.

Students have two weeks to opt out of the Inclusive Access program. After the opt-out deadline has passed, the course materials fee will remain on the student account, and students will be responsible for payment of the course materials and continued access.
